For any Batman enthusiasts out there the title of this article will probably make a lot of sense... The Joker, anyone?
However for anybody unfamiliar this is how to get an ugly looking scar extending from your mouth to your cheek. To do this, I've used a variety of products that you will need to get it the scar looking horrifically authentic.
First up, the texture: Now I've used Snazaroo SFX Wax and some liquid latex both available from Amazon. for only a couple of pound. Working with the wax was sort of tricky, it takes a lot of patience but I've found the trick is to warm it up with your fingertips to make it more pliable, which makes the whole process a little easier. Liquid latex is a lot more simple to use - if you can stand the smell because trust me, it's not pleasant. However, the overall pay off looks pretty decent.
I've also used a couple of other products including concealer, rose lip tint and eye shadow palette with various colours.
Although, at the time of creating this look I realised I had no fake blood so improvised with some lip gloss and it surprisingly worked a treat!
Start off by applying your wax and liquid latex (tutorial here) into the shape of an open scar.
Let it completely dry, coat it with concealer - or whatever colour your face is going to be that night - and then you can begin with the fun stuff...
Shading: This step is pretty important to make the scar look authentic. I used black, purple and an orange/red eye shadow and dusted it over scar shape. You want to continue to build the shading up, adding the various colours until your're happy with the look and the wax is completely covered.
I added a touch of red lipstick to the wound to create the 'bloody' effect - purely because I didn't have any fake blood to hand, but it worked nicely as a base for the improvised lip gloss blood.
I decided to add some additional bruising around the scar which makes it look more dramatic. Just take some purple and blend it from the scar outwards until your happy with the look. I filled the scar with a red lip gloss for a shiny effect. I also extended the black shadow onto my lips to draw the whole look together.
Hope you've enjoyed this simple Halloween tutorial. Now you can create all the fake scars you want without the actual pain, something I'm sure the joker wouldn't agree with!
Happy Halloween.
