Suits Me
SEO & Content Marketing Executive
June 2020 - November 2021
Role and Responsibilities
Suits Me is a FinTech prepaid debit card provider and alternative to traditional banking aimed at those who struggle to open a bank account. Since starting at Suits Me, my role has grown significantly and covers a range of marketing across many areas, specifically content creation, PR, and Social Media.
Content
When it comes to content, I created and managed the content calendar to align with business goals, support SEO practices, and educate and inform our account holders about our products and personal finance. The content I produce predominantly focuses on blogs, press releases and website copy for both B2C and B2B areas of the business.
I've written over 200 blog posts for Suits Me - both short (500 words) and long-form content (1000-2000 words) - across a range of different topics from Health and well-being and Personal Finance to Money Saving Tips and Product Guides with many blogs reaching the top 3 spots on Google's SERPs.
Some key webpages pages I've written include the Fraud Prevention webpage, the Accessibility webpage, and a Modern Slavery Resource Hub aimed at our B2B clients. With SEO best practices in mind, I ensured the web pages included distinct CTA's to convert 'browsers' into account holders.
My copywriting has helped to increase the keyword ranking and visibility of the Suits Me website through on-page SEO optimisation and detailed keyword research. However, most importantly, I focus on ensuring my short and long-form content is well-written, educational and answers the reader's question.
Additionally, I curated a new tone of voice across the blog and website by deciding to move away from the "corporate" style the company previously had in place to a more friendly and helpful written tone. This was to better position ourselves within the fresh and modern direction of the innovative FinTech industry.
Depending on the style of the piece I'm writing, I carefully adapt my tone of voice to reflect different demographics. For example, blog posts about a national day are more informal, humorous and friendly, whilst a product guide is more educational and concise.
Being an expert on the Suits Me tone of voice, I've also become the main editor for all customer-facing content within the business. Alongside this, I manage the communications between Suits Me and external marketing agencies (ranging from copywriters, PR agencies and digital marketing companies) to ensure the tone of voice, brand guidelines, and business objectives are met.
PR
I've produced a variety of press releases since starting with Suits Me, some of which have been featured in Yahoo! Finance, Retail Gazette, Fintech North, and Prolific North.
To increase and maximise our press coverage, I've ghostwritten several comments and quotes featured in a wide range of publications, including The Mirror, The Express, and Retail Gazette.
As well as manually sending press releases to a wide range of contacts gathered within the FinTech industry, I'm familiar with using press release distribution networks (Cision) to increase exposure.
Social Media
Alongside my content role, I started covering social media due to staff shortages for several months. Here, I grew the following of the channels by updating the design and style of posts, focusing heavily on engagement, and implementing a number of successful competitions.
I created a Social Media Plan for each channel to help grow our brand awareness, generate more visits to our website, and ultimately push users up through the customer journey. The plan was created by analysing our customer demographics, insights, and social media trends.
In June 2021, Suits Me underwent a rebrand. During this time, I redesigned our social media templates based on the new brand guidelines. During the pre-launch campaign, I created video content on Vimeo, which was well-received across our social media channels.
After taking a step back from the day-to-day running of the majority of Suits Me's social media accounts (except for LinkedIn) to focus more on the SEO and Content Strategy, I continue to support junior colleagues in their role by answering general marketing questions, reviewing work, and making suggestions and improvements to support and help them grow within their role.
